Sydney, June 25. The Mayor denies being approached in any way in regard to Sydney being created a Lord Mayoralty. He feels insulted that he should be Charged with throwing cold water on the idea. THE FEDERATION BILL. After debating nearly six weeks the Assembly has passed, the first clause of the Federation Bill. THE NOTORIOUS BUTLER. The Executive has confirmed Butler's sentence. He will bs executed on July the 16th. WRECK OF A SCHOONER. The survivors of the crew of the Sydney-owned schooner Magic, have arrived by the steamer Ovalau. The Magic was driven ashore and completely wrecked, by a hurricane at Ninafooa Island Tonga, on May 13th. Captain George Lawaon and the cook, Wilson, were, drowned. The three survivors were washed on to the rooks, much bruised and exhausted, and had to climb a 50ft perpendicular cliff to escape from the sea, THE FRUITGROWERS' CON- - FEREtfCE. _Bk--»*wb, Jane US. At the Fruitgrowers' Conference the Judges suggested that a special award should be made to Mr Kirk, of New Zealand, for his display of coloured plates showing the injurious insects and mischievous birds.
