SPREYDON ROAD BOARD.

The adjourned annual meeting of ratepayers of the Spreydon Board for the purpose of receiving the balance sheet for the year ending March 51st, 1897, was held on June 3rd, there being a number of ratepayers present and Mr J. T. Brown presiding. The balance-sheet, duly audited, showed:—General account—Receipts £618 18s 9d, expenditure £451 5a 4d, balance in Bank £67 13s sd—total £518 18s 9d. Separate accounts— 1. Drainage Board rate account—Receipts £429 16s 7d, cash paid Drainage Board £429 16s 7d. 2. Waimakariri River Board account-Receipts £26 19s 4d, cash paid Waimakariri Board £26 18s Id, cash in hand Is 3d—total £26 19s 4d. 3. Hospital and oharitahl* aid rate—Receipts £79 18s Id, cash paid Selwyn County Council £79 18s Id. The Clerk then read the cont of the different roads. The balance-sheet was adopted. The ordinary Board meeting was held the' Same evening. Present—Messrs J. T. Brown, Handisides, Rogers, Ell, and Halliday. Mr Brown was voted to the chair for the ensuing year. Mr Handisides referred to tho death of Mr H. J. Hall. He moved— " That the Board is desirous of giving its expression of deep regret and that the Clerk be instructed to convey to Mrs Hall that the Board deeply sympathises with her and her family, in their bereavement." The Chairman thoroughly endorsed the remarks. Mr Rogers seconded the motion, which was carried unanimously. A letter was tead from Mr, Patterson in reference to his assessment, . and it was resolved that the Chairman and Clerk make the necessary I valuations for the coming year.
