A meeting of Auckland members of both Houses was held this morning, to consider, (1) inadequate provision made in the EstixnateeforprosecutingwithvigortheNorthof Auckland Trunk Kail way, and (2) whether it is desirable to advocate the work being undertaken by a company, as it would take fifteen years to complete it according to the present proposals of Government; also (3), the question of separata districts under the Hospital and Charitable Amendment Bill about to be submitted to Parliament. Eighteen members were present, including two Legislative Councillors, and all the liOwer House Auckland membere.excepting Sir Gγ. Grey and Mr Tole. Mr Mitchelson was Chairman. A long discussion ensued, Messrs Hurst, Moat Hobbs, and Moss, requiring that a larger sum should be demanded, Mr Dargaville pointing out that the present Government had done more than any of their predecessors for that locality. Ultimately a resolution was adopted oa the motion of Mr Peacock that the proposed vote of .£70,000 for the north o! Auckland is inadequate, as it is not a mere branch, but a trunk line. A Committee comprising Messrs Mitchelson, Dargaville, Moat,Hobbs, Cadman,Hurst and Bakuene, is to wait on Government to urge the desirableness of the amount being increased. There was a diversity ot opinion »s to the advisableness of the work being dene by a company. The question of hospitals and charitable aid is postponed till the Government Bill is circulated.
