ITALY. i On August 17th ten arrests were made in Kome of members of a criminal society, whi Ji has been operating in that city, in Naples, and Spoleto. The search of the house of a member of the society, a former Government official, revealed the fact that correspondeßca had been carried on with agents in New York for the sale to AmeriI cans of Italian girls, who had been bought for small sums in the Southern Provinces. Signor Vicci and his wife, who were arrested with Signor Dovideo, editor of the " Moniteur de Borne," for selling a Foreign Power a plan cf the Italian maritime defences, attempted to commit suicide on August 18th. Dovideo intended the plans for France. A valuable collection was stolen from the Boyal Armoury in Turin on August 20th, including four collars of the Order of Annusziata, studded with diamonds. The custodian committed suicide. Signor Clearco, Italian Consul at Monaco, was wasted, charged with having embessled 70,000 dole. •
