WELLINGTON.
The ' Independent 1 of the sth inst. reports:— Very little change has taken place in the state of the market since our last report. The market Is well stocked with goons, and prices. generally speaking , , rule low. The John Itunyan is landing her cargo in good order, and 13 the next vessel on the berth for London direct. The Asterope is progressing rapidly with loading, and is expected to sail to the advertised date. The l'rinee Alfred brought a considerable quantity ot en-go for Wellington, which was landed at the Queen's Wharf, in a few hours, and the steamer proceeded on her voyage yesterday evening. The lintt Market was held on Wednesday last as usual, and there was a large attendance. Mr. J. 11. Ilorner-sold a few horses at auction, and there was a large demand, for cattle, many cash purchasers from the south living , present; but the show of stock was very limited, and this we attribute in a great measure to tlie fact of our graziers being busily engaged in shearing, not being enabled to devote time for mustering cattle. There have been a few auction sales this week, but they have been principally furniture sales, and demaud no particular remark.
