RAILWAY SERVANTS
LOCAL BRANCH OF SOCIETY FORMED. The Executive officers of the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants visited Tauranga during the week-end for the purpose of forming a branch of the society at Tauranga. The visitors, consisting of Mr Churchouse, President, Mr L. Mclloride, General Secretary, and Messrs Gavin and Bradley, were met by the railway men. After an address by the President and General Secretary, it was resolved to form a branch with headquarters at Tauranga and embracing the Katikati-Tanea-tua district. The following officers were elected: Chairman, Mr > T Thompson; Vice-chairman, Mr J. Williams; Secretary, Mr G. H. Fisher; Treasurer, Mr S. Irikpen. The visitors were taken for a harbour excursion on Sunday afternoon and expressed themselves as hichlv delighted with the trip. Thev also voiced the hope that they would bo present at the annual re-union ot the local branch.
