PUBLIC OPINION

“JASPER” CITY (To the Editor.) Sir, —Will you grant me a little space I The race-day collection box, for “Jasper’s” City Mission, was opened by Mr Neal, and found to contain the rather disappointing sum of £3. I would like to thank the gentleman who gave a ten shilling note, and yet was too modest to reveal his name. I am holding the contents of the box, in the hope that it may be made up to a heartening amount for tlic coming winter. It is my intention to have a onc-day collection very soon, and this will be tho only appeal this year for cash. Tho used clothing fund goes on all year. A sack of good clothing was sent recently; another sack is half full. I would like to state that “Jasper”’ has added two new departlents to the mission this year, viz., a night club for tho children of the slums, who go to the yearly seaside camp; and a room where poor mothers can come for tree medical advice (a doctor is in attendance at a certain hour), Members of the staff can then keep in touch with those needing attention, and assistance and food is given children whoso, parents arc in want. Thanking you, Sir, for valuable space. —I am, etc., G. EDITH BURTON. Tauranga, March 25th., 1929.
