COALITIONISTS SECURE GREAT MAJORITY IN BRITISH ELECTIONS.

The elections resulted in an overwhelming majority for the Coalitionists. Mr Asqnith was beaten at East Fife. Others defeated are Sir John Simon, Mr Ramsay McDonald, Mr Herbert Samuel, Mrs Pankhnrst, and Messrs Snowden and Henderson. Those elected include Mr Lloyd George, Sir E. Geddes, and Mr Albert Stanley. Most of the women candidates were defeated. The Sinn Feiners captured the majority of the Nationalist seats.

A progress report showed Coalitionists elected 127, Liberals 56, Labour 23, Nationalists 1. Later figures read: Coalitionists 354. Oppositionists 116.

London, Dec. 28

The Coalitionist at Blackburn beat Mr Snowden by/ 16,000. Edwards (Coalition Labour) 7,972. defeated the Right Hon. Arthur Henderson, 5,024. Others elected are Illingworth, Bowerman, Thome, Long, Havelock Wilson, Shortt, Sir Norton Griffiths, Pemberton Billing, Hodge, Lord Robert Cecil, Horatio Bottomley, Sir F. E. Smith, Montagu, and Young.

The following were defeated: — W. J. Anderson, J. M. Robertson, Outhwaite, and Sir Walter Runciman.

The defeated candidates include C P. Trevelyan, Lansbury, Gulland, Sir C. E. Hobhouse, Rt. Hon. L. Jones, Sir L. Chiozza Money, Joweit, Ellis, Griffiths.

The state of the parties at 4.30 was: Coalition Unionists 303, Coalition Liberals 107, Coalition Labour 8, Unionists 29, Liberals 26, Labour 53, Sinn Feiners 36, Nationalists 5.
