The annual report of the Orient Steamship Company shows a profit of j £79,000 and recommends the payment of a dividend of 5s per share and placing £67,158 to the reserve fund. The British Broken Hill Silver Company has a half-yearly profit of £18,293 and pays Is per share dividend. Chief Justice Way has arrived in London. Dr Carl Peters, well-known as an inlr.-pid explorer, has been dismissed from the Geiman Imperial Service for cruelty to East African natives. The Mansion House Indian Famine Relief Fund amounts to half-a- million. The London press speak in high terms of praise of the fine physique and soldierly bearing of the New J South Wales troops. The New South Wales contingent passed a favorable inspection by MajorGeneral Gore on Tuesday. Sir George Grey is seriously ill. A serious explosion, believed to be caused by a bomb, occurred in the underground railway at London. The lemaios of the Dowager Duchasa of Bedford have been cremated. Mr H. Bottomley has voluntarily recouped the shareholders of the Hansard Publishing Company a quarter of a million sterling. The Emperor of Austria is on a visit to the Czur of Russia, accompanied l>y Count Goluchowßki (Minister of Foieign Affair.-) and Major General Baron Beck. The meeting was characterised by great warmth.
