THE LUTHERAN CHURCH.

Sir, — I was very pleased to see in your last issue that our friends at Norse wood are thinking the same as we are here, viz : That it is about time some effort was made to appoint a successor in the place of the Rev. Mr Ries, late pastor to the Lutheran Church for this district, who, I understand, either resigned or was dismissed some time past. I regret to notice there has been some difference of opinion as to the payment of the Rev. gentleman's salary, which I see he has not helped to improve by refusing to produce the book containing the list of members. About three years ago a meeting of members from JDane •■ virke and Norsewood was held for the purpose of arranging, to obtain a pastor from Home at a stated salary, subscriptions being promised for that purpose. When I say pastor, I presume it meant a duly qualified oneone that had passed his examinations, etc., "same as at home." Such, at least, was my impression, as also, I believe, that of other members who attended the meeting. I understand this arrangement has not been carried out, at least I shall be very pleased to be informed in the matter. As the matter has been standing so long I hope the committee will lose no time in thoroughly investigating it, and see that a good pastor be appointed, when, I have no doubt, his salary would soon be arranged, and everything done as at least church matters ought to be.— l am, etc., Member Lutheran Church.
