Trickster is a dark-brown horse, standing 15 hands 3 inches high, on short legs, with splendid bone and action. Trickster, as a three-year-old, won the Geraldine Maiden Plate, and ran second to Tasman in the Geraldine Handicap. In 1885 won the Palmerston Plate, and Woodville and Tahoraite Handicap; in 1886 he won the Woodville and Tahoraite Handicap, carrying 7st 101b, beating Orphan Boy, 6st 121b; Rollo, 7st 121b, third ; 1 mile and a half. On January 29th won the Racing Club Handicap at Greytovvn, carrying 7st 21b ; Athol Daisy second with 7st 71b, Kakapo, 6st 41b, third; one mile and a half. Time 2mm 51secs ; won easily. The same day won the Grand Stand Handicap, 1 mile, with Bst 71b; Little Scrub, Bst, 2nd ; Athol-Daisy 7st 121b, 3rd. Time lmiii 47£sec. At Wellington, on February sth, ran second with Bst 91b in the Welter Handicap, one mile and a half ; won by Leon, 9st ; time, 2min. 45sec. Same day won the Stewards' Handicap, a mile and a quarter, 7st 41bs, beating Rumor, 7st lllbs, 2nd ; Salvage, Bst'4lbs 3rd. Time 2min. 14sec. At Marlborough, Feb. 24th, won the Cup, carrying 7st 31bs ; Alpine Rose 2nd, 7st slbs; Refrigerator, 7st 41bs ; two miles; tims, 3min. 44sec. At Napier, on March 1 7, won the Free Handicap, Bst 31bs ; Soudan, 7s 81bs 2nd ; Abraham, 7st 61b, 3rd ; one mile ; time, lmin. 46seo. Same meeting ran second to Cinderella, carrying lOst 71b; Cinderella carrying lOst 51b ; Leonata, 12st, 3rd ; one mile and a half. Time, 2min 49secs.
