CURIOUS ACCIDENT.
* — : — At the ; Royal, Palace Gardens, Blackpool, on the 10th September, an accident occurred by which seven persons received very serious injuries. A form xof . amusement called the '■ Serial Flight "has bejen in operation there for some time. Two wire ropes are stretched across the gardens foi some 150 yards or so, inclining from a height of about 60ft to abouti 20ft. To these cars are suspended by means of pulleys, and when filled with passengers one car glides along the rope rapidly, its momentum being regulated only by the weight of the empty car ou the second rope, which is pulled up to the starting point, in readiness for the next load of passengers. Ohthe'day in question the car was started on its away down the wire rope with seven passengers, four men and three women. It had no sooner begfln to, get speed then the fastening of the rope in the ■ ground -give way,' and the car dashed from a height of about 30ft against a brick wall with such. force, that the wall was broken down. The car was smashed into .splinters, and the passengors were lying ; amongst the debris and the bricks. Fortunately; all escaped withtbeir lives. ' j
