FEARFUL ACCIDENT TO A LADY WHILE HUNTING.
A serious accident occurred on Thursday to Miss Popham, of Littlecote, near Hungerford. Miss Popham was hunting with the Craven hounds, near Marlborough. The hounds, having drawn Eabley Copse without success, were taken to another spot a few hundred yards further, and the gorse was being drawn when Miss Pophara's. horse, a spirited bay, suddenly reared and " bucked." The young lady was thrown completely over the saddle, with the stirrup, in which her toot retained its hold, with her riding habit torn off. {-'he hung suspended head downwards, her head sometimes striking the ground, while her horse ran furiously round and round with its helpless burden. At last the stirrup gave waj r , and she fell to the ground insensible, while her horse galloped off. It was then found that she was bleeding profusely from a severe wound on the temple, and there was another wound behind the ear. Miss Popham was conveyed to a house in the neighbourhood, whereshe received the requisite attention. Her injuries were found to be of a serious nature, and she now lies in a very precarious condition. Immediately after the accident, the hounds were whipped off, and the whole party quitted the field.
