TRAINING TRADESMEN
FOR WORK IN THE INDIES Nearly 100' Indonesians from all parts of the Netherlands Indies left Melbourne by train recently for a camp in New South Wales, where they will be trained as tradesmen for special reconstruction work. They will follow the troops as the Netherlands Indies are reconquered and will- start immediately with the task-, of : rebuilding their homeland. The.leader of- the training course will be William Lawry, a Scotsmanwho lived in Sumatra for a number of years," "and who was one of the last =jo. leave, the Indies after the Japanese invasion. Only six weeks elapsed between the conception of this scheme and the departure of the first group of Indonesians. They will be followed b y as many men as can be made available.
