Rostor-on-Don, city of half a million, is one of the (oili of the Axis forces in the south-east Ukraine. Not only is it a vital railway centre, bat it is only 27 miles from the mouth of the river Don. The picture shows Theatre Square. To the left is the Maxim Gorki Theatre, which it considered one of the most beautiful and largest in the Soviet Union.
