The monthly meeting of the council was held last evening, the Mayor. Mr. A. Oarslde, presiding. Electric Puny.—The tender of Messrs. Turnbull and Jones for the supply and Installation of an additional pump was accepted, the price being £1387. Emergency Mergae.—lt was decided to make the grandstand at Walkaraka Park available for this purpose. Ailrm tm Gsvenrar-General.—The council's decision not to participate in the address drew a strong protest from Mr. J. Gilchrist, who was of opinion that such action was in the nature of a sltghi on the King's representative. It was explained that the council's action was due to the fact that the amount in the unauthorised expenditure aceour.t was practically exhausted. fhssss,—The district fund shows a debit balance Of £9366.
