TRANSPORT BOARD.
MEN IN UNIFORM. CONCESSIONS REFUSED. At this morning's meeting of the Auckland Transport Board, Mr. W. H. Nagle presiding, it was decided to recommend to the finance, committee that the full amount of the board's contribution (£517) be paid to the Emergency Precaution Scheme organisation. A letter from the New Zealand military forces requesting the board to coneider the. question of granting to soldicivs in uniform a concession over its system similar to that in operation in Wellington and Christchurch was refused, the finance committee recommending that the previous decision of the board not to iseue such concessions be adhered to. The chairman, Mr. W. H. Nagle, said there had been a satisfactory result to the board's efforts for the etaggerin" of hours in orde.r to relieve the trame at peak hours. A conference had been attended by a large number of representative people, and progress had been' most helpful. He was gratified at the interest that had been taken in the question.
