THE METROPOLE.
The new innovations at the Mctropole have undoubtedly appealed to dancers, judging by the crowded attendance on Saturday evening, when all reservations were taken. The Metropole Band captured the attention of modern and old-time dancers with the excellent tempo in the respective items, and hearty applause greeted each number. The three-step polonaise, the gipsy tap and maxina shared popularity with spirited fox-trots, while, .the Monte Carlo competition was an established favourite, with prizes for the winners. Skilful arrangements of oversea* musical successes by Mr. Lew Jones demonstrated the. talents of conductor and instrumentalists, and individual specialities contributed to a distinctive effect in an up-to-date entertainment. The foyer was decorated with bowls of Iceland poppies, and supper was served downstairs. v
