EPSOM SHELTERS.
As a visitor to the Epsom shelters may I ask why suitable food for patients suffering with T.B. of the throat o&nnot be arranged for them ? The superintendent, -when approached upon the matter, eaid that orders had been given that no special cooking was to be done. In consequence, friends wid relatives of the patient® provide food for them which they can eat, thereby causing l hardship upon those with limited means. Another complaint is that the 'morning tea has been dispensed with, and (several patients say that a doctor has not visited them for weeks at a. time. Also I believe I am- quite right in saving there is no steriliser in the kitchen, which is very necessary in an institution of this kind, I should think. A VISITOR. [The secretary of the "board states that doctors do visit the patients regularly, that morning tee has not been dispensed with, that there is not a steriliser in the kitchen but one is in, each sluice room, and that croekerv and cutlery are not sterilised. Food 'taken to patients by friends is not cooked or heated at the infirmary.—Ed.]
