PUBLIC NOTICES. I Regulations for pleasure CRAFT USING THE PORT OF AUCKLAND. Under tlie Public Traffic Regulations, 193!> for the Part of Auckland, the Motukoreho Channel and the passage south of Motukorelo Isjarnl are closed to all traffic for entering the Port. It is realised that this Regulation will cause some inconvenience to pleasure craft during the summer months, and it has been decided by the, Naval and Military Authorities to relax the Regulation for craft wishing to use Motukoreho Channel for entering the Pf>rt If the Yacht and Motor Boat Association and its affiliated clubs are prepared to assist the Authorities in controlling the traffic by enforcing the enclosed procedure. It must be understood that if tLis is to continue it is essential that (1) There are no craft left in the dangerous area after dark. This area consists of area enclosed by lines joining East Tamaki Head 10 degrees to Emu Point, Motutaou and Bastion Point 26 degrees to foreshore Rangitoto Island. (2) Every craft entering by daylight is recognised and passed by the Patrol Vessel. It is therefore in the yacht and launch owners' own interests to see that this is carried out. PERMITS. A permit obtained from the Customs Boarding Inspector's Office, Queen's Wharf, is sufficient for the use of the Rangitoto Channel, whiclj is open day and night provided that all vessels report to the Examination Steamer when entering port. Yacht and Jaunch owners wishing to tise the Motukoreho Channel must apply for permit through their clubs. Yachtsmen not belonging to clubs mist apply in person to Naval Control Service, Naval Base, IVevonport. This permit will also authorise use of Rangitoto Channel. Regulations for the use of the Motukoreljo Channel are as follows: — 1. The channel is absolutely closed during the hours of darkness, which will be fixed by notice in the Press. The , channel between Brown's Island and East Tamaki Head is closed at all times for entering port. 2. No craft must be in the dangerous area quoted abova during the hours of darkness. In thick weather all craft must remain at anchor. 3. Every Boat Owner will be required to make a declaration containing:— Name of owner (or owners). Home address. Business address. Description of craft—colour, name, rig, length. Number as registered with Yacht and Motor Boat Association. Nationality of owner. Undertaking as to responsibility for v ;e». 4. The Naval Control of Shipping Officer will issue a permit giving authority for departure from, and entry to. tlie Port of Auckland by the Motukoreho Channel, on presentation of the above by representatives of the Association and its clubs. 5. The Association and its affiliated clubs to be responsible for seeing that all craft or sails are marked with their registered marks or numbers of their permit before handing them to respective owners. 6. Motor craft to have their permit number painted clearly on the bows. Numbers to be at least eighteen inches in height. Sailing craft to have their permit number or class number marked clearly on their sails. 7. Every craft to close Patrol Vessel when entering harbour, making certain they are recognised and passed before proceeding. Craft must come within hailing distance and be given word to proceed. 8. Craft proceeding from Rangitoto Island must ccnforin to these regulations and close l'atrol Vessel before entering harbour. This means all craft east of western line of prohibifed area. 9. Islington Bay may be used as an .-jrchorage for shelter during the hours of darkness : but when proceeding inwards from there in daylight craft must close Patrol Vessel first. 10.
