TWO-YEAR-OLDS IMPRESS.
THIS MORNING'S WORK. Xo. 3 grass was available for fast work at Ellerslie this morning, when mo6t of the tasks allotted were over sprint distances and were confined principally to horses that did not race over the weekend. The weather was fine and the going in first-clasw order.
Bronze Fire fHearn) was given an easy six furlongs, taking 1.24 3-5. This hack looks all the better for his race last Saturday. Konneta (Dowriek) came home from the half-mile post in 53 1 -ss. it was a useiii 1 cllort and she was going easily at the finish. Over a similar distance Wapaugh (Dowriek) took sjn. He also could have improved on the time. Waitarma (Pell) reeled off three furlongs in 40s, and Valspear (Coon) finished up useful work by running his last six furlongs in 1.27 1-5. Gay Hell 1.1 VII) ran five furlongs in 1.8 4-.">, the last three taking 41 4-ss. She was going evenly over the last part • of her work. Having his first fast sprint since being reconimissioned, Paint (l)owrick) was timed to run three furlongs in 40 3-ss. Over a furlong further Miss Appellant (Cameron) took 54 2-ss, the last three in 40 2-ss. Haste" Warden (Gemmcll) was go.ing comfortably, while traversing three furlongs in 43 4-5s and Armacourt (Canreron) recorded 40 3-5s for a similar task. This mare is doing well. The stableniates Gay Broney (Cameron) and Lady Acnshla (Hearn) kept together throughout half a mile in 56 l-ss. They increased the speed over the Inst three furlongs, which took 41 4-ss. Royal Abb (Markwick) got to the end of three furlongs in 38s, this being the bc.ot of the morning over that distance. Red Warden (Gemmell) was travelling easily while traversing half a mile in 56 2-ss, and Royal Message (Hearn), after beginning slowly from the six-furlong post, completed her lant half mile in 52 3-ss. This mate is to race at Cambridge on Monday. The two-year-olds Auburn Lad (Bruce) and the Posterity - Mit-abeDe 11. colt (I). Green) were on terms at the end of three furlongs in 38 4-ss. Both these youngsters are stylish movers and should turn out well.

Mahal a over-reached while contesting the Onehunga Steeplechase on Mondav and cut herself. Tt is not seriou*, hut W. Ooscomh, her trainer, stated this morning that she will not fulfil her engaarement in the Hunt Cup at Cambridge on Monday.
