WESTPORT MAYORALTY.
(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) CHRISTCHURCH, this day. In response to a large number of requests from organisations and friends in the Buller district and pressure from other parts of the Dominion, Mr. J. Kilkenny has definitely accepted nomination for the Westport Mayoralty, from which he tendered his resignation two weeks ago. Learning that Mr. Kilkenny had agreed to reconsider his decision to retire from public life and that, he would contest the Mayoralty, the member for the district (the Hon. P. C. Webb) wired: "Clad to hear jou have consented to stand again as Mayor of Westport. Had you not decided to do so, the loss ot your services in that capacity would have been a great catastrophe to the progress of the Bulle, district. I extend very best thanks for your decision. I am sure that the people of Buller will up predate your action to the full."
