MESSAGE TO R.A.F.
Anniversary Greetings From King George. TWENTY-FIRST BIRTHDAY. RUGBY, April 2. The King has sent the following message to the Royal Air Force:— "On the occasion of the 21st anniversary of the Force, I send my congratulations and good wishes to all ranks of the service and to all employed in the Air Ministry. I have known the Air Force from its earliest days, and I am proud to think its spirit remains unchanged—a spirit that has ! enabled it to surmount so many difficulties and to rise true to its motto to even greater heights of achievement." Message* also were received from Sir Kingsley Wood, Secretary of State for Air, Viscount Trenchard, Marshal of the Force, and Sir Cyril Newall, Air Chief Marshal. PARACHUTIST DIES. FATAL JUMP ON BEACH. (Received 11.30 a.m.) MELBOURNE, this day. When his parachute failed to open, Sholto Cathels, aged 1!), a member of an air circus, crashed 2oooft to his death in the sight of 1000 horrified spectators at Mann's Beach.
