LAW DRAFTSMAN.

APPOINTMENT ANNOUNCED. MR. H. D. C. A. ADAMS. (Prom Our Correspondent.) WELLINGTON, Thursday. The "Gazette" announces the appoint*ment as law draftsman of Mr. H. D. C. A. Adams. Mr. J. Christie, who up to the present has held the position of law draftsman and compiler of statutes, will relinquish the former office, but will retain the position of compiler of statutes. Mr. J. S. Reich LL.B., a member of the staff of the Minister of Finance, has been appointed assistant law draftsman in succession to Mr. Adams.

Mr. Adams, who is a son of Dr. C. E. Adams, the former Government astronomer and seismologist, was born in Xapier and educated in Wellington. Ho graduated LL.B. in 1918 and was admitted as a barrister and solicitor in the same year. After practising in Hamilton for over six years he returned to Wellington and for some time was in the legal division of the Public Trust Office. Mr. Adams joined the Law Drafting Office in 1930.

Mr. Christie, who is regarded as being an exceptionally able officer, has been in the Law Drafting Office since 1907. Mr, Christie graduated Master of Laws at Victoria University College. He was admitted as a barrister and solicitor of the Supreme Court in 1912 and was appointed law draftsman in 1918. Mr. Christie has rendered meritorious service as law draftsman and has been called upon to draft legislation of an extremely difficult natnre in recent years.
