ORDERED TO HAVE A REST.
111-health of Te Puea Herangi. For health reasons Te Puea Hera*igi. of Xgaruawahia, has been ordered by her medie'al advisers to abandon all public activities for a period of months. She has, therefore, left Xjraruawahia and is living quietly at Waiuku. where she has more chance of being undisturbed. Of late considerable public interest has been taken in the pa at Xjraruawahia because of the two magnificent examples of Maori work there—the carved meeting house, Te Mahina-a-ranpi. and Tiiiongo. the new home for the Maori King. Koroki. Large numbers
of visitors go there'or seek to secure permission I<> (In so. Te Puea said this morning that she would not lie aide to »1 tend 1 o any further cut crt ainmcnt until her health had improved. She said, too. that she received many letters from Maori and pakcha. alike, asking her to assist in various ways in numerous projects. She would l>c able to take part in none of these for some time. Te Puea was the moving spirit behind the building of the King's house, which was opened by the < »overnor-< ieneral. Lord Calway, in March. That entailed a great deal of work and much worrv. and it is thought that perhaps the strain was unduly great.
