TO SEE DOMINION.
VETERAN JOURNALIST. "BRUNO LESSINO" ARRIVES. "I wanted to see what it was like in a country where the people stand head downwards. That's why I have come to New Zealand," said the well-known American journalist Mr. Rudolph Block ("Bruno Lessing"), who arrived by the Mariposa from San Francisco this morning to spend about a month in the Dominion. It was. his first visit to New Zealand, ho admitted, and he intended to see as much as possible in the time, and to write articles for American newspapers.
He had seen all the other parts of the world, and after 50 years in journalism felt it was time he had a look at the Antipodes. Perhaps later he would go on to Australia.
With an interest in every thing from people, scenery and animal life, to polities, economics and agriculture, he expects to find a variety of material in the 1000-mile stretch of the Dominion, and will pass on his impressions to the millions who read his articles in the United States.
Since he began as a reporter in New York in 1888 lie has seen many changes in the appearance and methods of newspapers, but with the true journalistic instinct he still gets his greatest enjoyment from roving about and writing down what he sees at first hand, just as lie did for the "New York Sun"' nearly 50 years ago. He haft held various appointments -with the Hearst Press, and has also found time to write a number of books.
