Business on the Auckland Stock Exchange lias been of moderate volume over the past 24 hours. The banking section was quiet) and the only sale was an odil lot of Commercial preferences at £9. New Zealands were on oii'er at £1 19/, with 110 buyers in sight.

In insurances the only business was a sale of South British unchanged at £4 9/3, with a subsequent market between £4 9/ and £4 9/0.

In Australian issues there were the usual fluctuations, but Electro. Zincs continued firm, with a sale of the preference Od up, at £2 5/.

Amongst local issues Bycrofts had buyers at £2 1/, and Union Oils were in request at £1 11/6, sellers still holding out for £1 14/'. Gas shares were steady between £ 1 3/ and £ 1 3/3. In Government stocks there was a demand for all issues, with sellers of the '40's at £102 and*of the '55's at £100. Better at Noon. A fair number of orders came forward during the morning, and a good list of sales was put through at the" noon call, turnover including several parcels of Government stocks at late rates. In fresh bidding a parcel of Bank of Australasia was offered at £12 4/, and a buyer came in for New Zealands at £1 18/. A buyer came in for New Zealand Insurances at £3, and the seller dropped to £3 2/. Dalgetys were asked for, being quoted between £S 16/ and £9 2/6. Bartholomew Timbers were available at £1, and New Zealand Breweries were quoted lower, between £2 11/9 and £2 12/6. Sanford shares were easier, with sellers of the ordinaries at 4/1 and of the preferences at 19/, with no buyers in sight. Wilsons Cements were 011 offer at £1 17./, md the buyer moved up to £1 16/3.
