IF THE KING WED.

STRANGE INSURANCE RISKS. (Special.—By Air Mail.) LONDON", August 29. Lloyd's—underwriters to the world— are busy, "making a market" in coronation insurances for manufacturers and business firms to whom the coming ceremony has meant a phenomenal increase in business. For "cover" against risk of postponement of the Coronation for one day or more, some firms are paying as much as £15 15/ for every £100 insured. Others are protecting themselves against the "risk" of the King marrying before next year—in which event hundreds of thousands of medallions and mugs would have to be scrapped. Many firms have already begun manufacturing medals and presentation mugs bearing the King's portrait. In the event of his marriage the new Queen's portrait would also have to be incorporated in the designs—hence the manufacturers' anxiety to protect themselves. Other firms responsible for stands and bunting and so on are similarly interested.
