quaint spoons date from about 1500. ancl in olden days were given as christening presents to childien, the particular apostle who was the child s patron saint being chosen from the set of 12' spoons, representing the apostles. In the case of wealthy people a whole set with an extra, spoon with- figure of our Lord was given. Tliere is only one set of these old spoons in existence, but there are millions of reproductions of all sizes, and nowadays they are very popular as teaspoons. No doubt you yourself have stirred your tea "with one of them many a time. Some people make a hobby of collecting spoons, especially those decorated with the ai ms of towns or countries. It is an interesting hobby.
