GARDEN ENTHUSIASTS.

WAITEMATA SOCIETY. A most interesting talk on "American Gardens" was given by Mrs. A. Bishop, of the Auckland Lyceum Club gardening circle, to the members of the Waitemata Horticultural Society in the Buffalo Hall at Birkenhead last night. The president, Mr. J. L.' Hanna, was the chairman. The prizes awarded at the recent spring show were presented to the. successful competitors by Mrs. F. G. Blackwell. The awards of the judges, Messrs. D. P. O'Leary and A. E. Harding, in the points competition for members, were: Mrs. F. G. Blackwell, nine points (out of the possible of ten); Mesdames J. Prickett, J. Campbell, K. Taylor, A. E. H. Harrison, Miss E. Bodle, Dr. C. W. Parr, Mr. H. X. Lecfe, eight points each; Mesdames A. E. Harding, A. R. Shutes, H. N. Leefe, K. Taylor, J. Prescott, Miss G. M. Bell, seven points each; Mesdames J. C. Williams, J. Barrott, C. M. Burton, S. Mills, H. Kemp, Miss J. Geddes, six points each; Mrs. G. B. Hewson, Mr. D. P. O'Leary,-five points each; Mesdames F. M. Frith and J.
