LEAGUE OF MOTHERS.
MOUNT ALBERT. The meeting of the Mount Albert branch of the League of Mothers this month took a special form, being a "father and son" night. The function proved a v great success, the Presbyterian Hall being well filled with fathers and sons with their womenfolk. Mrs. M. M. Turner presided and with her •on the platform was the provincial president, Mrs. O. S. English, to whom was presented a posy of ranunculus. The meeting opened in the usual manner with a devotional period. Mrs. O. S. English then spoke on the aims of the league. Elocutionary items were given by Miss Rona Turner and Mrs. Beecroft. Vocal numbers by Mesdames-'Owens, Harvey and Black and Messrs. Del Turner and Fenton, and 'cello solos by Mr. Eric Laird were greatly enjoyed. The accompanists for the evening were Miss Laird and Mesdames W., Browne, Tait and Mcßride. A "members of Parliament" competition- was held, the winners being Mr. and Mrs. A. V. Windsor. The speaker, for the./eveningswas Mr. W. J. Holdsworth. fHostesses were Mesdames Batkin and Millar j, and the evening concluded " with a bountiful supper, for which Mesdames A. Turner and Leman were responsible.?.,: '
