The new line begins with a graded one in 1/0, immediately) beyond the Kaiwarra station, and crosses the Hutt Road just past the new road to Khandallah. Left: Looking into the tunnel mouth at the northern end The tunnel is over three-quarters of a mile long. Right: The embankment, built up from the harbour, carrying the electrified lines. On the climb out of Wellington there will be a saving of ; 323 feet, and it is expected that a sum of £40,000 annually will be saved in operation costs. (See letterpress below.)
