SPORT AND FRIENDSHIP.
Another challenger for tbe America Cup has taken the water; and Mr. T. 0. M. Sop with is the owner. However, with the bickerings that marred the last contest in mind, this seems to me regrettable. Evidence, unfortunately, is plentiful to show that sport as a cemcnter of international friendships is sadlyoverrated. Already the Olympic Games have provided their quota of unsavoury "incidents." Present Ansrlo-Ameriean relations, too, are not over-cordial; indeed, what between the war deadlock and the British Government's hushhush foreign policy, especially as it affects the Pacific, they miTht quite truthfully be described as the reverse of cordial. And, with this state of affairs in mind, the Royal Yacht Squadron would, it seems to me, be well advised to review certain features of this latest challenge for the "old mug." A.E.F.
