NEW PLYMOUTH CELEBRATES.
GAY CROWDS IN STREETS,

NEW PLYMOUTH, Saturday.
Large crowds filled the streets [when New Plymouth .'commenced to celcbrate its diamond jubilee. The scenes were reminiscent of New Year's Eve as a din was created by the gay crowds who roamed the .streets with whistles and squeakers. Music was also provided by a pipe band. A treasure hunt created great interest, especially among the younger people. A motor car was driven through Devon Street with small slips of paper fluttering from its windows. A crowd followed in its wake, hunting for the precious slips, that entitled the finder to a prize. However, most of the searchers found, only a slip bearing a cheerful message, j Concert parties attracted crowds of j people. | The celebrations will be continued and. will end with a ball on Tuesday night. I
