SEVERAL HORSES SPRINT. BREVITY AXD SIR HL'GH. (By Telegraph.—Special to ">Star.") CIIRISTCHURCH, this day. The weather was line for track work at Riccartou this morning, although a sharp frost made the ground hard early, but there was a quick thaw under the influence of bright sunshine. A large number of horses went on the inside of the trial grass track, but half-mile sprints were the general order for those that galloped fast. Brevity sprinted half a mile up the back with Sir Hugh, doing 50s, a performance that Knockfin equalled. Emissary ran three furlongs, easing up, to register 52s for half a mile. Palmyra and Rousseau took 51 2-5s up the back, while Culotte led Concertpitch in 51s. Ruaform and Thii Smuggler did seven furlongs m 1.33 2-5. Vair Weather reeled off six furlongs in 1.17 1-5, Jolly Beggar assisting ovei the last four. Bay Duke and Araboa sprinted half a mile in 50 2-ss, Gaysome taking 52 2-ss. Going easily, Epic and Emmeline Girl did 51s for half a mile, Arrow Glen beating Cape Gabo in similar time, while Greek Gold and Dollar Bill took 50 2-ss. Epris had Autumn Wind as a mate for three furlongs in 37 4-ss. Metal Bird and Carfex ran half n mile up the back in 50 2-ss. Courtyard beat Polygraph and Kamal Pasha down the straight in 50 2-ss. Haeretonu and Journet did halt a mile in 51s, and ran oil to the winning post at a sound pace. Battleground and Lord Hereford were the first of the jumpers to school, going well over four hurdles. Forest Glow (W. J. McDowell) and Manawatu (A. W. McDonald) jumped three brush fences down the straight. Otaura King (W. J. McDowell) also went over three fences in the straight, but did not have much pace on.
