AUSTRALIA'S DEFENCE
Order Given for 24 Bombers From England. COST OF £345,000. (Received 11.30 a.m.) MELBOURNE, this day. The Minister of Defence, Sir Pearce," announced that 24 Seagull V amphibian 'planes are being ordered from England, the cost of which landed in Australia will be £345,000. These machines may be catapulted from cruisers or seaplane carriers. They will have a speed of 120 miles an hour at 5000 feet, and can dive at the rate of 200 miles an hour. Their range, with full bomb load, is 300 miles.
