FOUND WITH CHINESE.
■— . GIRL OF NINETEEN. QUARRELLED WITH MOTHER. Found yesterday afternoon by the police in a Chinese laundry, a girl, aged 19, was admitted to probation for two years by Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., in the Police Court this morning. The girl whose name was suppressed, pleaded guilty to a charge of being idle and disorderly, without visible means of support. Detective-Sergeant Kelly said that the police had been called to the sh-.p which was in Ponsonby Road. They found one of the doors locked, and'heard a girl's voice inside. One of the constables went round to a window and saw accused and a Chinese in the room. Accused, said Mr. Kelly, had a quarrel with her mother earlier in the month, and had run away from home. Major Annie Gordon said she would like to see the girl given a chance, and suggested that she be placed on probation ior two years.
