TIMARU MEETING.

SOUTH CANTERBURY CLUB. TO-MORROW'S PROGRAMME. A GLANCE THROUGH THE FIELDS. \ (By Telegraph.—Special to "Star.") CHRISTCHURCH, this day. The autumn meeting of the South Canterbury Jockey Club, a one-day fix-' ture this year, will be held to-morrow. Good fields have been attracted for all the events. Riccarton stables are well represented and with a useful contingent of Otago horses, in addition to strong local- support, there is ample material to ensure interesting sport. Tekapo Hurdles. Perle de Leon was a useful hurdler earlier in his career, but he has been off the scene for a long time and he may be left alone until there is some evidence how he has shaped since he joined P. T. Hogan's stable. Pangolin would r.ead exceptionally well if he produced his best, but he is not reliable. Trcilus was runner-up to Antrim Boy on the second day at Riccarton this month and he should be better now. Of those on the minimum, Huntley is a likely sort. Synonym should make a good hurdler, as he is schooling well, but he may be better for racing experience." With Pangolin dropped because he is uncertain, Troilus and Huntley appeal most. Electric Stakes. In this field there are some horses whose form is poor and others who have not done much racing. Arrow Maid has 'shown useful form lately, a third at Riccarton being followed by a win at Greymouth. Coroner can go fast enough to win, but appears deficient in courage. Flaxbird has not struck form yet, but King Musket is on the improve. The Otago gelding Segrave, though a nonstayer, can muster up a lot of speed. Whatnot won at Motukarara and may show up here. Arrow Maid and Segrave, however, may be the best. Otipua Trot. There are several horses here who have shown smart form recently. Gold Spear was second at Ashburton on Saturday, Prince Wrack and Free Logan were placed at Waimate, while Lord Antrim was placed at the Tiraarui Trotting Club's meeting and also at Waimate. On their time records, there may not be much between these four. Nelson Guy, was a winner at Waimate. Royal Parade has raced consistently for some time for place honours only. Nelson Guy and> ' Royal Parade are a likely-pair. Teschemaker Handicap. Black Duke is always entitled to re; spect in races of this clas, but he has paid a severe penalty for his Great Autumn success. He meets Compris on 21Jlb and Mount Boa on 201b worse terms than in the Riccarton race. Compris was second in the Great Autumn and on the figures be' appears to be treated now with exceptional leniency. He easily defeated Mount Boa at Riccarton and now comes in at ljlb better, compared with the Waimate horse. Town Major won at River ton and must" be given a chance, which will be improved if the track is soft. Starshooter is coming onj but inevitable may find the journey a trifle too far, though he won over a mile at Riverton. Red Racer is very consistent and cannot be overlooked. Glenrowan has shown no form lately, but Night Effort has been racing well. Compris may find Mount Boa hardest to beat. Rosewill Hack. Night Parade has raced well this season and; has won over the journey, a strong recommendation in this field. Royal Love is a. winner over a mile and has given evidence that he will go further so his chance must be considered seriously. Punchestown and Owlsflight were staying on well at Riccarton. Royal Love is a likely improver, who should be favourite, with Night Parade hardest to dispose of. Gladstone Trot. Free Logan, Lord Antrim and Royal Parade are a trio who may be seen in the earlier event, .which may disclose their prospects. Pronto Bingen also figures in both races and on figures he should beat all the other limit horses in the second event. Scotty Bingen won at Waimate and must now have a good chance. Compromise failed at Ashburton over two miles, finishing third, but it was a fast race. He, reads well now and Pronto Bingen may be best of the others. Smithfield Hack. Hot Tea created a favourable impression "when he won at Riccarton in February and he must have a great chance. Bonrose is improving, while Red Royal was twice in a place at Riverton. Winsome Hind showed useful form at Trentham last month, but has not repeated it. At her best she would be hard to beat. Night Recital is a speedy customer and very well, in spite of his failures at Riccarton. Of those lower down, Crash appeals most. There is material for a fine race, but Night Recital and Hot Tea may do best. Doncaster Handicap. Waving Corn is a smart galloper when in form and she won at Riverton at her last start. Ranelagh may not be quite ready, but is likely to improve fast with racing. Rin Tin Tin, one of the doping victims at Riverton, may be left out of calculations. High Court has not raced since last spring, but First Raid showed that he was in form by winning at Riccarton this month. Master Anomaly was a winner at Riverton and he is a smart sprinter under any conditions. Rascal may have a chance, especially if the ground is soft. Master Anomaly and Waving Corn look a likely pair.
