Sons, Ltd., report:—At our weekly Westfield fat stock market held .-to-day' our beef pens contained 373 head (comprising 189 steers and 184 cows and-heifers), compared with 267 head last Wednesday. The quality of ox beef was first class. Competition was keen, without alteration in values, from last week. Extra choice ox sold to 23/ per 1001b; choice and prime, 20/ to 22/; secondary and plain, 16/ to 19/; prime young cow and heifer beef,. 20/ to 22/; secondary, 10/ to 19/. Extra heavy prime steers ranged in price from £9 5/ to £10; heavy, £8 to £9 2/6; lighter, £7 to £7 17/6; light, £5' 15/ to' £6 "17/6; small and unfinished, £3 10/ to £5 12/6; extra heavy prime young,cows and heifers, £6 15/ to £7 10/; heavy, £5 15/ to- £6 12/6; lighter, £4 10/ to £5 12/6; others, £2 to £4 7/6.

There was a keener deriiand for choice and prime quality. Although quotations are the same these qualities were better worth. Other classes sold at late rates. Heavy prime steers ranged in price from £9 to £10 5/: lighter prime steers. £7 17/6 to £8 15/; light prime steers, £6 15/ to £7 15/; small and unfinished steers, £4 10/ to £6 10/; heavy prince young cows and heifers, £6 to £6 15/; lighter, £4 15/ to £5 17/6; light, £3 15/ to £4 12/6; others, £2 to £3 10/.
