ALL NIGHT DRIVE.
STORY TOLD BY ACCUSED MAN : CHARGED WITH STEALING CAR. (By Telegraph.—rPress Association.)CHRISTCHURCH, Tuesday. The criminal sessions were opened today, when 13 indictments were presented to the grand jury and true bills returned in all cases. The charge of thetheft of a. car valued at £100, the property of Edgar Henry Smith, was laid against Ronald Edward Morrison. It was alleged that Smith left the car in a street in the city on the evening of July 5. He went back three hours later, when the car was niis'singy Morrison told a detective that he. met a stranger named McGregor in the city that night and that Morrison told MacGregor that his . own car (had broken down and he had to get to Nelson. MacGregor told him he would" hire a car on condition that •he returned it to Timaru. MacCregor went away and came back with Smith's ear. Accused drove it all night and finally ran it over a bank near Kaikoura. He was himself injured and taken to hospi- ! tal. I Tl 'e jury returned a verdict of not I guilty.
