HENDERSON RATEPAYERS.
The annual meeting of the Henderson Ratepayers' Association was held on Thursday evening in the Town Hall, Mr. H. Strong, vice-president, accupying the chair. The secretary* Mr. A. ForsonStewart, submitted the annual report, which indicated that the matters which had been the subject of correspondence with the town board, a majority of whose members had been elected with the support of the association, included the construction of the North Road at the approaches to the School and Coronation Bridges, the condition of certain roads and drains, the equipment of the fire brigade and other minor matters, all of which had received or were receiving the attention of the board. Feeling reference was made to the loss the association had sustained by the death of Mr. B. F. Cranwell, a former president of the association, one of its chief supporters and an able member of the Town Board. In the affairs of the town, the past year had been an uneventful one, but progress had been made, as was indicated by the increased revenue required to meet expenditure previously incurred. The treasurer's statement showed that the receipts exceeded the expenses by the (um of £3 2/5. Mr. E. G. Rowntree, chairman of the Town Board, who was present, answered a number of questions to the satisfaction of the audience. The election of officers resulted: President, Lieutenant-Colonel King-Mason; vice-president, Mr. H. Strong; treasurer, Mr. J. Lee; secretary, Mr. A. Forson-Stewart; committee, Messrs. E. Welsh, P. Johnson, W. Haybhornthwaites, R. H. Pollock and J. Halliday.
