RIFLE SHOOTING.
GIFT FROM THE GORDONS. BOER WAR SOUVENIR. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Wednesday. The trophy presented by the First Battalion of the Gordon Highlanders to the Australian and New Zealand military forces in recognition of associations during the South African War, and allocated for competition among Commonwealth p.nd Dominion riflemen, will be competed for next week at Trentham by teams representative of New South Wales, Victoria and New Zealand. This will be the second occasion on which the holders of the cup have been decided in this country. One of the conditions of the gift is that the trophy has to be fired for in the Australian States, Tasmania and in New Zealand In rotation, irrespective of who the holders are. The trophy was first competed for in 1906, when the New South Wales team were the winners. It was won at Randby New Zealand in 1809, and at Trentham the following year.
