NEW BUTTER FACTORY.
TE KOPUItTJ PROPOSAL. DISTRICT TO BE CANVASSED. (By Telegraph—Own Correspondent.) DARGAVILLE, this day. A largo number of the dairy factory suppliers who live within twelve miles of To Kopuru met last night and discussed the report of a committee recently set up to procuro data regarding the advisability of building a new butter factory. Mr. W. A. Morgan pretided. After a long discussion, a motion that the project be deferred in the meantime was lost by a two-to-one majority, and the meeting authorised the committee to canvass the district for guarantees of cows. * After listening to an address by Mr. P. W. Hill, of Hoanga, the farmers decided to form a Suppliers' Association similar to the one recently formed at iHoanga. The proposal to establish Another factory down the river has been under consideration for some time, and' the result of last night's meeting makes it appear . that there is still a likelihood of one being established, despite the fact *that one of the largest and most up-to-date factories (Northern Wairoa) is already established within six miles of the proposed site of the new one. The district from which the proposed new venture hopes to draw its supplies comprises rich dairy flats, many of which are not yet carrying nearly their full capacity of dairy cows. Some of the largest suppliers to the present factory are also in this area.
