A marked reduction in the entry of beef cattle at Westfield yesterday resulted in keen competition and a sharp advance in value?. Sheep sold at about last week's rates, with best ouality lambs subject to brisk bidding. Bacon pigs were again in demand, anri a further rise in prices was recorded. Other Reports on the weekly stock sale at Frahkton on Tuesday are:— New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited. —Beef was penned in short supply, consequently coinpetition was keen and a slight advance in values resulted. We sold prime cows r.p to £9. and medium-weight steers at £9 19/. Fat sheep were firmer and stores met with a good demand. Light fat wethers made £1 5/6; fat lambs, 1 £1 0/3 to £1 5/6; fat; ewes,' 14/6 to 14/9; store two-tooth wethers. 19/6; good shorn lambs, 14/10; small, 10/. There was a large yarding of fat and store pigs. Baconers and porkers sold at last week's rates. Store pigs were dull of sale and prices were exceptionally low. Several pens of sheep were filled, and also -were cleared. Pigs were penned in full numbers and lacked competition, practically half the entry being passed. ADDINGTON MARKET. A "LIGHT" SALE. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Wednesday. Entries were on 'the light side at Addington to-day. Store and fat lambs sold keenly. Ewes sold slowly for all but the best. Fat lambs made good prices, while fat cattle improved slightly on account of a small entry. Fat sheep showed practically no change. There was another small entry of lambs, owing to rains having improved the feed prospects. There was a good sale, values hardening and being up on three weeks ago by 4/ to 5/. The ewes included North Island lines of poor to medium class, and these sold draggingly. Good local halfbreds, however, were snapped up.

Fat Lambs. —There were 3200 entered. There was a good sale at full export rates. Best made 32/ to 33/7; prime, 28/6 to 31/6; medium, 25/6 to 28/; light, 23/ to 25/.

Fat Sheep.—An average entry, with more wethers. Butchers' sheep were inclined to be easier, but lighter sorts were taken by exporters at about last week's values.
