TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIP.
01-LIVIER MAY NOT COMPETE LEX FRANCE AN ABSENTEE ("By Telegraph.—Special to "Star.") WELLINGTON, this day. According to advice in AVcllington, Geoffrey Ollivier, New Zealand lawn tennis champion, will not defend his title at Auckland this year. Don France, runner-uji to Ollivier in the national singles championship last season recently sought the Canterbury man as a doubles partner for the coming tournament, and has received a reply from Ollivier that he does not intend to make the trip to Auckland, though friends in Christchurch are urging him to go. Another notable absentee from the New Zealand tournament will be Len France* first ranking player in Wellington, who finds the demand of business too heavy to enable him to get away. With his brother, France has recently gone into business.
