YACHTING.

OPENING OF THE SEASON BIG DISPLAY ON HARBOUR. ENTRIES AND HANDICAPS. The yachting season will be officially opened to-morrow afternoon, when all local clubs have combined to hold cruising and harbour races under the auspices of the Auckland Yacht and Motor Boat Association. All events will start at intervals of eight minutes, from the tower on the end of the King's wharf, the outer end of the line being marked with a buoy. Five shapes will be used in place of five flags. All classes down to 20ft and launches will race to Islington Bay, the smaller classes competing over the usual harbour courses. The courses and starting times are as follows: — A and B, from starting line, round Rangitoto and Motutapu, finishing at Islington Bay between launch Daisy and mark boat. Sandspit beacon, Rock and red buoy off Narrow Neck must be observed at fairway marks. C, E, H. The course for launches is from starting line, direct to Islington Bay. Harbour events, classes T, X and Y, from starting line off King's wharf, thence round Sandspit beacon, thence round Resolution buoy, back to starting line, twice round, keeping marks on starboard hand.
