THE ROYAL VISIT.
« CHILDREN'S PAGEANT SUGGESTED. PROGRAMME BEING ARRANGED. Although arrangements have not yet been finalised in connection with the approaching visit of the Duke and Duchess of York, it is probable that on the second day of the Royal visit to Auckland (Wednesday, February 23) a children's pageant will be staged on the Auckland cricket ground, and that the Girl Guides, Boy'Scouts and school children of Auckland will be invited to participate. The Mayor (Mr. Geo. Baildon) stated this morning that at present any arrangements were only of a tentative nature, as a special committee had the programme arrangements in hand, and they were in touch with the Minister of Internal Affairs. It was hoped, however, to announce the complete programme at the earliest possible date. A deputation, consisting of Mrs. W. R. Wilson (Chief Commissioner of the Girl Guides' Association) and Mrs. R. M. Tolhurst (president of the Auckland executive of the Girl Guides' Association), waited upon the Mayor this morning, and were informed that the Girl Guides would be invited to take part in the suggested children's pageant.
