BREEZE AT MEETING.

MEMBER AND MINUTES. (By Velegraph.—Own Correspondent.) HAMILTON, this day. For a long time the meetings of the Mangawara River Board have been anything but happy and a further breeze oceurred l at a meeting of that body yesterday, when after the minutes had been Mr. C. E. Pilkington rose and took exception to the minutes being passed in the form read out, and also objected to the secretary reading his own impressions into the minutes. He did not think the remarks made during the course of a meeting should be recorded. The Chairman: What remarks do you take exception to? Mr. Kilkington (curtly): Let mc see the minute book. After persuing the book Mr. Pilkington turned to the secretary and inquired, "did you read those minutes?" The Secretary: 1 did! Mr. Pilkington (excitedly): It's a scandalous shame that this board .should be hoodwinked and side-tracked in this manner. The Chairman (Mr. Carter): Mr. Pilkington, you are forgetting yourself. Mr. Pilkington again "persued the minutes, and after some hesitation remarked that in the circumstances he would withdraw his observation The Chairman: You should apolo"i*e to the secretary.

Mr. Pilkington: Ido He then asked the Press not to publish his remarks, adding that there was no personal feeling between himself and any member.
