CLAIM AND COUNTERCLAIM. Evidence was concluded yesterday in the case in which Alexander Elder Warnock (Mr. Towle), creditors' trustee in the estate of Archibald A. Mclan, an architect and building supervisor who has disappeared from Auckland, sought to recover £490 from Mrs. Helena Gray (Mr. K. McVeagh). The claim is that when Mclan's estate was assigned it covered certain moneys due by defendant to Mclan for the erection of a house for her at Remuera. Defendant denied liability and counterclaimed £250 on account of the estimated cost of the building being exceeded, and £247 for delay in completing the building, which was begun in 1920, and not finished until 1922. After hearing addresses by counsel, his Honor reserved decision.
