GOOD EXAM RESULTS. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. (By Telegraph—Own Correspondent.) WAIHI, Thursday. The annual meeting of the Waihi School of Mines was held last evening. The directors' report showed a slight increase in the attendance. The result of the Government examinations was satisfactory. E. Williams was successful in completing his examination for a first pass for a mine manager's certificate. Several candidates passed the examination for quarry and tunnel manager's certificates. Four students (J. M. Keane. H. P. Phillips. W. J. Thompson, and R. W. Whitehouse) sat for the Cite and Ciuilds of London Institute examination in electrical engineering, grade I. All were successful in passing. The following is the list of prize-winners: G. Burke, certificate for electricity and two books; K. K. Campbell, second-class certificate in electricity and chemistry; R. Gale, first-class certificate for theoretical chemistry and certificate for junior mathematics, also first-class in chemistry, together with prize; K. Haszard, certificates for junior electricity, junior mathematics and junior chemistry and prize; W. Holford, firstclass in metallurgy (gold and silver) and prize; E. Hollis, third-class, junior mathematics;" G. Jennings, third class junior mathematics; A. McDonald, fisst class in junior mathematics; A. S. Morrison, first class in land and surveying and gold medal presented by Mr. F. M. Haszard, also first class in senior mathematics; W. Morton, second class in practical chemistry. N. Morton was awarded a series of certificates, thus winning the first section in the School of Alines scholarship. A. Robinson, first class in mathematics; J. Thompson, third class in practical mathematics; A. Worth, first class in junior mathematics; A. Worthington, third class in practical mathematics; W. Speedy, third class in practical mathematics.
The election of officers resulted: Patrons, Messrs. H. Poland, M.P., and C. E. MacMUlan, M.P.; president, Mr. W. H. Johnston; vice-presidents, Messrs. M. F. Haszard and A. Walker; council, Messrs. J. L. Gilmour, W. Morrison, J. G. Comes, J. Whitehead, W. L. Button, and T. Walters; students' representatives, Messrs. E. J. Scobie and O. Bell; auditor, Mr. W. M. Wallnutt.
